FEICOM distributes over 30.6 billion FCFA to municipal, regional councils… in 2022.

It has been revealed that sum of over 30.6 billion FCFA was distributed to some councils, city councils and region councils in the year 2022.
The funds, which some councils’ unions and associations equally benefitted from, was distributed by the Special Councils Support Fund for Mutual Assistance, FEICOM, headed by Philippe Camille Akoa as General Manager.

This was revealed in a communique issued at the end of the 42nd ordinary session of FEICOM’s Board of directors.

The session which was organised on May 30 in Bafoussam, West Region, was chaired by the FEICOM’s Board Chairperson and Minister of Decentralization and Local Development, Georges Elanga Obam.

The board meeting also attended by the Governor of West Region, Awa Fonka Augustine, was geared towards the presentation and examination of the 2022 Performance Report of the administrative, management and stores accounts, as well as the report of the Financial Controller.

According to a communique issued at the end of the deliberation, the Minister mentioned that the global sum of over 30 billion, 671 million FCFA was released in 2022 by FEICOM to the different councils to carry out projects.

The projects were constituted in some 277 funding packages.

Concerning revenue generation mobilization of, it was revealed that over 255 billion, 849 million FCFA were mobilised against a forecast of 255 billion, 199 million FCFA, thereby producing an achievement rate of 100.003%.

The Board chairperson added that, “equalization resources shared to Councils and City Councils over the financial year amounted to 109,721,372,261 FCFA”.

As regards funding investments of regional and local authorities, the board further noted with satisfaction the increase in the consumption of related budget which stood at over 28 billion 393 million FCFA, giving a positive variation of 10.86%. This is compared to 2021 when the budget consumed stood at slightly over 25 billion, 612 million FCFA.

The board chairperson also lauded the FEICOM General Manager, Philippe Camille Akoa for ensuring “the smooth running of the institution” and presented to the board members quality documents showing the good results obtained, and the positive trends in the mobilization of financial resources.

He said the accounts reports presented, examined and approved by the board members show proper expenditure, with an increasing rate of commitment appropriations.

In addition, the board expressed contentment at the implementation of partnership programmes funded with KIW, the European Union, the African Development Bank and the Cameroon Housing Loan Fund.
