A philanthropic association known as Gold Heart, has officially being launched.

The association, headquartered in Limbe, Fako division of the South West Region, was officially launched through a donation exercise at the Grace of God Philanthropic Orphanage in Buea recently.

The association, led by Oyere Germaine Ojong as President, donated a consignment of foodstuff and toiletries.

The consignment included six bags of rice, five cartons of soap, a bag of salt, a carton of vegetable oil, packs of biscuits and candies as well as a packet of toilet paper.

While presenting the gifts to the orphans, the Gold Heart president said the gesture was in fulfillment of a burden the Lord laid in her heart to support the less privileged after traversing a difficult stage in her life.

According to Oyere Germaine, she was heartbroken and depressed when she lost her pregnancy in the third trimester in August 2016.

“At that time, I started thinking about others who have been greatly affected by grief. I thought of widows, orphans, widowers and wondering how they are faring,” she said.

She further said “the Holy Spirit laid in my heart the urge to care for people that have been greatly affected by grief. I wrote down every idea on a piece of paper. A month later, I got a confirmation and guidance in my dream”.

She continued narrating that “I woke up and after praying and asking God to show me a sign that this is his will for me, the Lord led me to the book of Isaiah 61:1-3”.

In March this year, she successfully created the Gold Heart association to empower, educate, support and promote access to well-being for orphans, widows, widowers, girls and women in Cameroon.

The founding president of the association stipulated that despite the association being based in Limbe, their activities will be carried out across the country and guided by their motto of “love, care and togetherness”.

In a bid to inspire and foster positive change in the personal lives and in their communities, she assured that Gold Heart strives to educate and promote the empowerment of girls, young widows, widowers and orphans from different parts of the country to access education, health and hygiene, clinical support services and other women’s empowerment and advocacy programmes.

She also handed a cash gift to support the 38 orphans enrolled in primary schools through to university.
