Kumba III DO cheats death in Amba attack on residence.

We gathered that the Kumba III DO, Alfred Meende Ngale, was inside his house when at least three Amba fighters, on board a motorcycle, stormed the residence and engaged in a fierce gun battle with his bodyguard.

Implementing a sound military know-how, the bodyguard overpowered them, forcing the invaders to retreat before the arrival of soldiers of the Sixth Rapid Intervention Battalion, BIR, 20 minutes later.

The BIR soldiers combed the area to get possible casualties before ferrying the Kumba III DO and bodyguard to their headquarters.

Meanwhile, the following morning, the Kumba III DO was present in his office to carry out assigned State duties.

On getting information of the attack on one of his close collaborators, the Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, of Meme, Chamberlain Ntou'ou Ndong, arrived the scene to see the situation for himself and put in place necessary measures to avoid recurrence of such an incident.

The SDO called on the population to be vigilant and collaborate with the defence and security forces as well as the administration.

Ntou'ou Ndong frowned at a fake video about the attack being circulated on social media by separatists, stating that the incident happened at night when there was darkness.

"The video they have been circulating happened during the day. It is a very old video, but that notwithstanding, the forces of law and order will continue to target them. They were not many. They were hiding there (pointing at a direction with vegetation). I want to reassure you that very soon, they are going to be neutralised," he stated.

The SDO told the people of Mambanda village that supporting Amba fighters is a mistake, because they, Amba fighters, can never help them.

While urging the population of Mambanda to shun fear and regretting that it has become very difficult for them to send away the “terrorists” from their area, the Meme SDO said he does not want to hear that Amba fighters have come again to Mambanda village. 

He called on the people to also invoke their ancestors to fight for them in defeating the invaders. Ntou'ou Ndong took time to congratulate the bodyguard of the Kumba III DO for his bravery.

The population, through their spokesperson (name withheld for security reason), thanked the DO’s bodyguard for the bravery exhibited and promised total collaboration with the defence and security forces as well as the administration “to put an end to such terrorist attacks by Amba fighters”.
