CENSREHURD gifts didactics to 100 Anglophone crisis IDPs, orphans in Yaounde.

Non-governmental organisation, the Center for Scientific Research, Human Rights and Development, CENSREHURD, has donated school materials to less privileged pupils and students who fled the conflict in the North West and South West regions to live in Yaounde as Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, ahead of the start of the new school year on Monday September 4.

The materials which include among others, books, pens, and school bags, were handed to the selected IDPs and orphans in Yaounde Wednesday, August 30.

The Founder and Executive Director of CENSREHURD, Dr Pefela Gildas Nyugha, said the gesture was put smile on the faces of Yaounde-based less privileged pupils and students ahead of the new school year.

The scheme, Dr Pefela Nyugha said, falls in line with CENSREHURD’s objective of accompanying the government in providing equal access to education for all.

“No child should be deprived of his or her right to education irrespective of their social status,” the graduate of the National School of Administration and Magistracy, ENAM, stated.

“This project aims to provide back-to-school assistance for internally displaced children and orphans who have been forced to flee their homes due to the ongoing conflict in the North West and South West Regions and have found refuge in Yaounde,” Dr Pefela Nyugha added.

He expressed gratitude to all the sponsors who contributed to the successful organisation of the back-to-school scheme whose Coordinator, Zemoh Yannich, said took into consideration the vulnerability of the various beneficiaries and the promotion of equality.

Beneficiaries express gratitude for kind gesture

Students and pupils who benefitted from the CENSREHURD scheme, expressed sincere gratitude to the organisation for the timely intervention.

They described the support as one that did not only reduce their burden during the 2023/204 back-to-school period but also as one that will contribute in positively sharping their life.

“I sincerely appreciate this great gesture at this very difficult moment. These materials will help me to successfully resume classes in the new school year. Until today, I wasn't sure if I would be furthering my studies this year since there weren't any means to get my school needs,” said beneficiary Form three student, Tanga Melanie Nji.

Nji promised to study hard to ensure she excels in her academics as proof of her appreciation for the CENSREHURD benevolence. Another beneficiary, Foncha Damian, a Class Four pupil made a similar remark.

He expressed gratitude to the association, promising to work hard in school to prove the sincerity of his appreciation for the gesture from CENSREHURD.

Parents and guardians of the various beneficiaries, including Pastor Alarba Dieudonne, a guardian, all praised the association for the back-to-school scheme.

Sponsors, other partners, laud initiative

The 2023 back-to-school project by CENSREHURD did not only get praises from the beneficiaries of the scheme and their relations. The initiative equally pulled applauses from the scheme’s various sponsors, technical and financial partners.

Dr. Samjeh Paul Sama who was one of the scheme’s main sponsors, described the initiative as life-changing and timely. He encouraged the beneficiaries to stay focused on pursuing their goal of becoming what he termed “the light of the community”.
