Douala: Three teenagers arrested for brutalising mate over boyfriend.

The three ladies, with ages ranging 17 to 21, are reported to have been arrested by Gendarme officers at the Mambanda neighbourhood in Bonaberi, after committing the dehumanising act. 

The 16-year-old victim, whose name The Guardian Post got as Ngogok Melanie, lives with her grandmother.

She is reported to have left the house to live with a friend of hers, Ngo Bikwé, at the CICAM Logpom neighborhood. 

Bikwe is said to be living with a cousin of hers named Tonleu, a DJ at a snack bar. Tonleu, sources are quoted as having said, arranges hook-ups for teenage girls at the bar he works in.

Ngogok Melanie's grandmother is reported to have been worriedly searching for her. The grandmother is said to have finally gotten to Tonleu by phone and begged him to send her granddaughter back. 

But Tonleu is reported to have asked for 40,000 FCFA from the grandmother. She is said to have sent the money, but Ngogok Melanie never returned home. 

Meanwhile, Ngogok Melanie is said to have been attracted to a boy, who is reported to be the boyfriend of one of the girls who does hook-up at the bar where Tonleu works.

However, when the girl, whose boyfriend was being interested in Ngogok Melanie, got wind of this, she rallied her friends and they reportedly attacked Ngogok Melanie. 

The girls are reported to have gotten Ngogok Melanie well beaten, and shaved her hair, naked her and burnt her body with lighters. 

While committing the dastardly act, the girls were filming and snapping the scene. This act, the girls are reported to have been overheard saying, was to warn any other girl who tries to snatch the boyfriend of one of theirs. 

We gathered that the victim, Ngogok Melanie, is reported to be currently in hospital receiving treatment on the wounds she sustained during the incident. 

It should be recalled that similar incident had occurred in Buea, Fako Division of the South West region, in June 2022. Then, three girls were arrested by security forces for torturing another lady.

In a viral online video, the trio were seen undressing the victim and beating her with whips. They went ahead to force her to parade the some streets of Buea naked. The video had made waves, sparking widespread anger.

The tortured girl, as the story went, was said to have been dating a young man who had a baby with one of her assailants. Outraged after the discovery, she mobilised two of her friends who joined her in attacking and torturing the accused lady.

They also used a razor blade to shave her bald, before tearing her clothes off and compelling her to parade the streets bare-bodied.

The girls were later arrested, detained and charged in court. After trial, the perpetrators were sentenced to six months imprisonment and asked to pay damages to the victim.
