Equinoxe TV’s ‘Ambassador’ wins Best Pidgin English Newscaster Award.

The Douala-based versatile broadcaster was invited to the podium during an award ceremony organised recently by publishers of The Voice Media Group.

Ambassador was amongst several other Cameroonians singled out and recognised for their individual contributions to the growth of the nation.

The Equinoxe TV star journalist was recognised for his dexterity and excellent news presentation skills through the use of Pidgin English, the most comprehensive and spoken language in Cameroon.

The applause was loudest when Ambassador was announced winner of the prestigious prize. Avid TV viewers say his distinction, didn’t come much as a surprise. Ambassador is amongst the most familiar faces on TV in Cameroon.

The graduate of the University of Buea, began working as newscaster on Equinoxe TV since September 2016.

He has since then been the presenter of the Pidgin newscast on Equinoxe TV and Radio, one of Cameroon's most watched and listened to private television and radio channels.

Ambassador has shot to journalistic prominence over the last seven years, thanks to his nose for proximity news, his knack for truth and his passion for a job well done in his working language, Pidgin English. 

He is driven by the editorial flare for information that directly or indirectly affects the ordinary man.

This is evident through his news-in-brief slot "Pidgin News" on Equinoxe morning show, "Cadence Matinale" and the expanded news programme at 1:00pm on Equinoxe TV during weekdays.

Ambassador equally presents the Pidgin News on Equinox Radio 93.0 Fm, with call-in slots known as "Make we Tok," from Mondays to Wednesdays.

On Thursdays, he presents "Inside we Family" and on Fridays, he presents "Wetin dey Sweet You, Wetin Dey Hot You," which run from 2:00-2:30pm on weekdays.

Ambassador is winner of several awards and distinctions. He emerged winner of the 2020 PANAFES Excellence Award.

He was same year crowned Best Pidgin News Presenter during the Victoria International Media Awards.

He has also won the Golden Awards 2020 as Best Pidgin TV Presenter as well as the Lifetime Achievement Awards as All- Round Best Pidgin News Presenter.

Ambassador equally won the WatchDog Tribune National Press Award for Peace Heroes and Champions of National Unity as the Most Creative Journalist in TV Pidgin News presentation.

Besides being an outstanding broadcast journalist, Ambassador, who hails from Kupe Muanenguba Division of the South West Region, is currently serving as Vice President of the Douala Chapter of the Cameroon Association of English-speaking Journalists, CAMASEJ-D.

Together with his co-executive members, CAMASEJ-D has maintained a sustainable momentum in empowering and swelling the membership of the chapter. 

This, he has achieved through professional workshops every meeting day held on the first Sunday of each month as well as visits to companies. 

He is also reputed for consolidating peace and Unity within CAMASEJ-D, through networking and the organisation of friendly matches with several academic and professional partner institutions.
