Bamenda: Ndichia Foundation prepares underprivileged children for new school year.

Over 200 needy primary and secondary school children, mostly orphans and the physically challenged in Bamenda, Mezam Division of the North West Region, have received didactic school materials donated by Ndichia Foundation.

The beneficiary children selected from the neigbourhoods of Ntankah, Ntamulung and Mulang in the Bamenda II and III Subdivisions, received didactic materials comprising of books, pens, pencils, rulers and sharpeners.

The didactics are to help them prepare for the start of the 2023/2024 school year next month.

According to Father Anthony Ndang, representative of the Foundation, these areas were chosen for the donation because they are densely populated with Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, and orphans from different villages across the North West Region.

Speaking at the donation event, the representative of Ndichia Foundation appreciated the donors and partners for their love and generosity to children who can now look forward to a new academic year with hope.

Fr Ndang invited the children to study hard and commit themselves to becoming leaders of tomorrow. He urged them to implement and follow the values of Ndichia Foundation: respect, honesty, understanding, integrity, ethical conduct, selflessness, accountability and independence.

According to Mbamte Crenny, a 13-year-old Form two student and IDP currently living with host parents in Bamenda, going back to school on her part is now guaranteed thanks to the donation.

She expressed her gratitude to Ndichia Foundation for providing school materials ahead of the school year. Another beneficiary, Kaira Wiykiynuy, a 24-year-old Lower sixth Student said the gift of didactic materials is one step towards her future success and becoming a better person tomorrow.

Speaking at the event, Abeche Lidwina, a parent whose four children were beneficiaries, said her happiness can’t be measured in words.

“I will like to thank Ndichia Foundation for the support by providing school materials to our children. I am deeply grateful and I really appreciate your efforts and charity. May God continue to bless, protect and strengthen all those who help you to help us,” Abeche said.

It should be noted that the armed conflict in the two English-speaking regions has left many school children helpless each time it’s back to school period. Some have been displaced, some abandoned without parents and others forced to now live with a one form of disability.

As the struggle to keep children in school continues, initiatives like that of Ndichia foundation have continued to wipe away tears from the eyes of most families and kids in Bamenda

Ndichia Foundation is a local based organisation, named after late Bobe Primus Nkuo Ndichia, a philanthropist in education of children.

The Foundation seeks to promote holistic education to children who have never been to school and also to school drop outs or victims of the Anglophone crisis.
