After second deadly road crash: Transport minister slams 15-day suspension on Touristique Express.

The Minister of Transport, Jean Ernest Massana Ngalle Bibehe, has suspended the interurban transport agency, Touristique Express, for 15 days.

This follows another fatal accident that claimed the lives of nine persons, injuring 42 others along the Ngaoundere-Garoua road axis.

The accident occurred on August 8. Similarly, the member of government equally suspended the driver of Avenir de la Kadey transport agency, following an accident along the Doumé road that claimed the lives of seven, injuring 27.

This information is contained in a release signed August 16 by Minister Ngalle Bibehe. It follows an investigation carried out by competent authorities after the accidents.

According to the release, the Touristique suspension follows the fatal accident that occurred on August 9. It happened three months after another accident involving a coaster belonging the same agency along the Garoua-Boulai road claimed 15 lives.

In a note announcing the suspension, the minister said findings show the accident was the outcome of over speeding and reckless overtaking.

The vehicle, he said, lost control and overturned. The note identified the driver of the bus involved in the accident as Issa Ousmanou.

According to Minister Ngalle Bibehe, prior to further findings, Touristique Express SA has been suspended for a period of 15 days. The minister faulted the agency for not implementing measures the Ministry of Transport had outlined following the accident that occurred in the month of May.

The license of the driver, the minister also informed the public, has been withdrawn for a period of one year. To note that in the case of the May accident, Minister Ngale Bibehe had slammed a one-month suspension on the same agency before turning around to lift it a day after.

This was after complaints from persons who travel to the Northern Regions of the country. Then, the Director General of Touristique Express, Mohamadou Adoudlaye had issued video clips, criticising the minister for having opted then to suspend the travel agency.
