Adamawa Region: FEICOM to finance construction of 36 new classrooms.

The Special Council Support Fund for Mutual Assistance, better known by its French acronym as FEICOM, has announced it will be funding the construction of 36 new classrooms in the Adamawa Region.

The move, according to FEICOM officials, is geared towards boosting education in the entire Adamawa Region. The prototypes of the new classrooms were approved and unveiled recently. This was at the end of the 50th session of FEICOM’s Financial Assistance Committee for Councils.

According to FEICOM officials, the project falls in line with Decree N°. 2018/635 of October 31, 2018, reorganising FEICOM’s projects for the protection and development of Regions.

The construction project, according to the Director General of FEICOM, Phillipe Camille Akoa, in concrete terms will provide 36 new classrooms and contribute to the socio-economic development of chosen communities in the Adamawa Region.

Some 2,000 pupils and teachers are expected to benefit from the exercise. The project, he added, will cost FEICOM the sum of One billion FCFA.

The money, the DG said, is expected to be used to build and equip socio-educational infrastructure in several schools across the administrative unit.

The project, the FEICOM boss also noted, will be implemented in accordance with the Regional Development Plan of the Adamawa Region.

Priority in the said regional plan, he also said, is on education, with keen interest on boosting literacy rates and vocational training.

The financing agreement, the FEICOM Director General said, will increase the capacity and quality of the Region's socio-educational infrastructure, both for pupils and teachers as well as bring more development to the area.

Camille Akoa further underscored that the construction projects are in line with government’s National Development Strategy, SND 30.

Axis one of the plan, he said, focuses on the development of human capital and well-being of the population, through the attractiveness of spaces designed for learning.

The unveiling of the constructions in the Adamawa Region, comes after a similar project was made public for the East Region.

Unlike the Adamawa Region that will see 36 school campuses get new infrastructure, the six schools in the East Region will be built across the Upper Nyong Division.
