Nico Halle shines again for ceaseless fight against corruption, hate speech.

For the umpteenth time, renowned lawyer and international peace crusader, Ntumfor Barrister Nico Halle, has been recognised for his relentless efforts in combating corruption, hate speech and other vices affecting the fabric of the nation.

The latest of the recognitions was conferred on the foremost legal luminary by organisers of The Voice Awards.

Ntumfor Nico Halle was amongst several deserving Cameroonians recognised during the award ceremony, which coincided with the 7th anniversary of The Voice newspaper.

The award ceremony took place Saturday August 5 in Yaounde.

Though represented at the heavily attended ceremony, the applause was loudest when Ntumfor Nico Halle was declared winner of the prestigious “Most Celebrated and Impactful Peace Icon Award”.

Organisers of the award said the Douala-based frontline anti-graft champion, won the prize “for his shinning legacy, peacebuilding and crusading and pacesetting in promoting nation building and patriotism as well as fighting moral decadence, hate speech, corruption and encouraging inter religious and ethnic harmony”.

Meanwhile, speaking to newsmen August 11, while officially receiving the award in Yaounde, Ntumfor Nico Halle said he was both surprised and excited to have been recognised for his works as a peace advocate and anti-corruption crusader.

He said: “Each award has been a surprise to me but I think that going by what I have done for this nation, Africa and beyond within the domain of fighting hate speech, corruption and others, 172 awards are still very few”.

Ntumfor Nico Halle then noted that: “The intrinsic value of this award to me is spiritual because without God, we are nothing”.

Commenting on the growing phenomenon of hate speech, Ntumfor Nico Halle attributed the scourge to “poverty, unemployment and frustration”.

He insisted that: “No poor or hungry person has kind words for you”.

Ntumfor Nico Halle, who said he was dedicating the media award to God and his wife, was blunt that: “For us to fight hate speech, we must take care of the root causes. Unless and until we take care of the root causes, we will only be blowing hot air”.

He then disclosed that: “For as long as I live, I will crusade peace because peace is the most precious asset for the whole world…but for us to have peace, there must be equity, transparency and accountability. As long as you discriminate against people, you cannot have peace”.

“For any structure in this nation to function well, there must be existence of the core moral values: Justice, equity, integrity, dignity and honour. You cannot succeed as a human being without these core moral values,” he continued.

He said: “Only 10% of one’s successes in this world depends on aptitude. For you to succeed fully, you need attitude. Attitude has to do with character”.

“When you have character, you have a legacy and you work for your people. When you work for your people, you don’t have the right to loot, plunder, pillage and pilfer,” he concluded.
