FEICOM to finance construction of six schools in East Region.

The Special Council Support Fund for Mutual Assistance, better known by its French acronym FEICOM, has announced funding for the construction of six schools in the East Region to boost education.

The prototypes of the schools were approved and unveiled recently. This was at the end of the 50th session of FEICOM’s Financial Assistance Committee for Council.

The new schools, according to FEICOM authorities, will be constructed in the localities of Bagbetout, Bagoloul, Andjouk, Ankom, Mboma and Beul, located in Angossas Subdivision, Upper Nyong Division of the East Region.

According to the Mayor of Angossas, Anne Marie Tsitso, the schools in the different localities have become old and dilapidated. To remedy the situation, Mayor Tsitso applied to FEICOM for funding.

She lamented that the environment of the six public schools in the localities of Bagbetout, Bagoloul, Andjouk, Ankom, Mboma and Beul are not conducive for children to learn in.

The new schools, the mayor said, when constructed, would boost the teaching- learning process across the Angossas municipality and boost local development.

According to the Director General of FEICOM, Phillipe Camille Akoa, the structures will include model classrooms equipped with clean toilets and modern drinking water supply networks.

The project, he added, will be financed in line with the directives handed during the 50th session of FEICOM’s Financial Assistance Committee for Council. FEICOM, the Director General said, will continue to work to increase the capacity of public schools nationwide to boost education and contribute to national development.

Camille Akoa further underscored that the new drive of the institution under his command falls in line with government’s National Development Strategy, SND 30. He detailed that the second pillar of the SND30, which lays more emphasis on the development of human capital and well-being of the population, is where FEICOM fits in to promote education and other aspects to improve the wellbeing of the local population.
