National Interpools: ISOHSA crowned champions.

South West Region flagbearers at the 2023 National Interpools, Isles of Hope Football Academy, ISOHSA of Limbe, has been crowned champions.

They defeated North West Region representative, Bafmeng United Football Academy, BUFA, 2-0 in an all Anglophone final, staged yesterday at the Yaounde Military Stadium.

Goals from Albert Tiku Egbe and Brandon Babo, saw the Limbe-based outfit lift the trophy at the end of the two-week tournament, reserved for the 10 regional champions.

Both clubs came into yesterday’s final, having already secured qualification for Elite Two Championship next season, after their respective victories in the semifinals of the tournament.

After a goalless first half, the boys of Coach Aime Nlend of ISOHSA, made the difference as they punished goalkeeper, Leonard Ngam of Bafmeng United twice.

Coach Soh Simplis of BUFA, rotated his squad, fielding some players who hadn’t played since the tournament started.

The North West regional champions were unlucky as they failed to concretise the several goalscoring opportunities they had.

ISOHSA were crowned champions of the competition undefeated in six matches. In six matches, they won four and drew two. They also had the best attack and best defence, scoring 13 goals and conceding just three throughout the tournament.

The club’s forward, Albert Tiku Albert, emerged top scorer of the competition, with five goals in six matches. He was also voted Best Player of the tournament. 

Yesterday’s final was a moment of celebration and communion among the two Anglophone clubs and their supporters, as they had already secured promotion to Elite Two Championship.

Before the final match, Pouma FC from the Littoral Region, defeated Volcan of the Noun from the West Region, 1-0 in the third place fixture to win bronze.
