Spain to invest in construction of bridges in Cameroon.

Spain has announced plans to invest in the construction of bridges and other road infrastructure projects in Cameroon.

This was what emerged from an audience the Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, granted the Spanish Ambassador to Cameroon, Ignacio Garcia Lumbreras.

The Spanish diplomat was received in audience Wednesday in Yaounde. Ambassador Ignacio Garcia Lumbreras, informed Minister Nganou Djoumessi of the interest of his country's companies in supporting government in the development of the road and bridge infrastructure projects in the country.

To this end, Spanish company, Centunion, had publicly expressed its interest in building metal bridges in Cameroon.

A list of five structures for which technical studies have already been carried out by the Ministry of Public Works has been sent to the Spanish company, Centunion, pending the production of technical and financial offer.

The project stems from Centunion's expression of interest in a letter dated October 5, 2022, addressed to the Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, in which the company had presented a financing offer for the construction of bridges and interchanges in Cameroon.

The financing amounts 60 million euros, a circa 39 billion FCFA. The financing is structured with a loan underwritten by the Spanish government.

Meanwhile, the structures concerned include the bridge over the Mayo-Deo (150m) at Kontcha on the Tignere-Kontcha road in the Adamawa Region; bridge over the Mayo Thiel (127m) at Bashéo, 40km from Garoua on the Baschéo-Mboutou road in the North Region.

In the Centre Region, the project will finance the construction of a bridge over the river Nyong (165 ml) at Ekombitié on the Mfou-Nkilzok-Ekombitié road; and the bridge over the river Nyong (160 ml) at Malombo on the Ngoumou-Minka-Malombo road.

In the west, there is the bridge over the river Noun (131 ml) at Sankié village on the Marché Bantoum 3-Carrefour Sankié section. Prior to this, Centunion and the contracting authority had jointly visited the sites of the projects.
