National Interpools: ISOHSA keeps Elite Two dream alive after stunning Sporting Maroua.

South West Regional representative at this year’s National Interpools, ISOHSA of Limbe, has revived their dream of qualifying for the Second Division Championship.

This they did by securing the morale-boosting revival after recording a 5nil victory over Sporting Club of Maroua, yesterday. With the victory, the Limbe-based club now tops Group A.

That was during the third day of Group A matches in the Elite Two qualifying tournament held at the Annex A of the Yaounde Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium.

ISOHSA team captain, Brice Tabi and sensational pair, Babo Brandon and Tiku Egbe, got the goals for the academicians from Fako Division of the South West Region.

Forward, Babo Brando, opened scores after powering in a brilliant assist from Agbor Vernon. Albert Tiku Egbe got the second after completing a well-coordinated assist from Brice Tabi at the 64th minute.

The business got more interesting for the ISOHSA outfit after the Man of the Match award winner, Tabi Brice, scored twice at the 77th and 83th minutes to put scores at 4-nil with seven minutes to the end of the decisive fixture.

The Brice Tabi goal, which came shortly after a red card sanction against Sporting, was followed suit by Babo Brandon, who found the back of the net at the 89th minute to put a rap to the goal-scoring festival he personally launched with his 13th minute opener.

Elite Two dreams revived

Yesterday’s victory came through as a decisive win. The triumph fully revived the club’s dreams of securing a qualification ticket to the second-tier championship at the end of the 2023 Interpools, despite a timid start.

The Limbe club, which garnered 2 points after drawing its two opening matches, is now placed 1 point above the second and third-ranked teams in the pool, Volcan of Noun and Union Sportif of Abong heading to the fourth day. Abong Mbang had the chance to take the lead on yesterday but missed out after losing 2-1 to Academie Nyom II.

The Nyom II team from the Centre Region, is 4th on the table with 3 points while the representatives of the Far North Region, Sporting Club, is at rock bottom with zero point.

With the current placing, a victory for ISOHSA in its last game which comes up against Academie Nyom II next Monday will put the South West representatives at a better chance of qualifying for the Elite Two as group winners.

That wish will however depend hugely on the result recorded by other teams, especially by Volcan of Noun, which has garnered 4 points from two matches played and US Abong Mbang.

Volcan was on standby during day three matches yesterday. The Noun club may unseat ISOHSA on the top spot heading to the final day if they come through as winners against US Abong Mbang during their third game of the campaign tomorrow.

Bafmeng entertains Pouma today

The Interpools will continue this today with day three matches in Group B, with North West Region representatives, Bafmeng United pitted against Pouma FC from the Littoral Region.

Bafmeng United tops the group with 6 points following victorious over Krimi FC of Garoua and Olympic Biwong Bane in the club’s two opening games.

The flagbearers of the North West Region will be looking forward to securing another decisive win today to climb to 9 points and further edge closer to securing a much-wanted ticket to the Elite Two.

A victory for the Bafmeng team today will put the club in a possibly more relaxed position pushing for just a point in their last game which comes up on Saturday, July 22 against Ngaoundere FC.

The second Group B game this today will be the fixture pitting Krimi FC of Garoua against Olympic Biwong Bane from the South Region.

Krimi is ranked third on the tentative classification table with 3 points following its victory over Ngaoundere FC on day two.

A victory for the Garoua club will see them boasting their chances of getting an Elite Two ticket. Such a result will however mean Olympic Biwong Bane, which lost its opening game, will virtually be out of the race with two matches left. It will more especially harm Biwong Bane, if Bafmeng United records a victory today and climbs to 9 points.
