Ngaoundere University, American DITEK Institute seal mentorship deal.

The partnership convention was signed yesterday in Yaounde, under the supervision of a representative of the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, Prof Jacques Fame Ndongo. 

The agreement was penned on behalf of the University of Ngaoundere, by its Rector, Prof Uphie Chinje and the Proprietress of the American Ditek Institute, US-based Agbortoko Diana.

The partnership between the American Ditek Institute and the Ngaoundere University, was one amongst several deals signed by the state university and mentee private higher educational institutions. 

Speaking at the end of the signing ceremony, Agbortoko said the entire management and staff of the American Ditek Institute feel elated and privileged to enter into such an accord with the University of Ngaoundere. 

“There are lots of private universities existing but do not have a big brother university to hold their hands. So, this is like a new lease of life for the America Ditek Institute and its students because they will now fell really secured and assured whenever they raise their heads to know the university they are affiliated to,” the Proprietress said. 

Hailing the new partnership with the University of Ngaoundere, Agbortoko said it will be an added value and a boost to their training programmes.

“We are a new institution with barely seven months into existence. The partnership is going to be an added value to what we are already offering because the University of Ngaoundere aligns with the same goals we are striving towards,” she underscored.

According to the school official, their school offers training programmes that meet the requirement of the job market in Cameroon and beyond.

“We believe that education is different and far from the ordinary because we train great thinkers and doers. We train our students ready for the job market,” she stressed. 

She upheld that they offer business opportunities and management courses to enable their students become better business persons or entrepreneurs. 

She added that: “We are also into the legal and medical careers, sociology, anthropology and a wide field. Right now, we have a clinic and a mobile sonographic machine whereby our students are learning on the job”. 

Agbortoko also revealed that every student admitted to American Ditek Institute is entitled to owning a free laptop and free internet connectivity on campus. 

Enter Prof Uphie Chinje 

For her part, the Rector of the University of Ngaoundere, Prof Uphie Chinje, the partnership with the 13 private universities will increase the number of youth to be trained for professional programmes at the university level as state universities cannot admit all the students. 

“When we multiply these institutions of higher learning, we multiply the possibilities of young Cameroonians to be groomed and in particular, most of these higher institutions look at professional education which is in line with the new law on higher institutions vis-a-vis the creation of enterprises and jobs,” Prof Uphie Chinje said. 

She added that: “…the objective of what we have done here today is to sign the overall agreement between the University of Ngaoundere and these institutions and eventually take specific conventions with the different establishments”. 

Going by Prof Uphie Chinje, the University of Ngaoundere now counts a total of 35 higher education establishments that they are in partnership with and covering several fields. 

She explained that in view of the new law on higher education, the Ngaoundere University is forging ahead with professionalism with five classic faculties which also do professional programmes alongside five other engineering establishments.

Yesterday’s signing ceremony was also attended by the Vice Rector of the University of Ngaoundere, Mamoudou Abdoulmoumini. 

Out of the 13 institutions concerned, four renewed their existing partnerships while nine others signed new partnerships, which will see the University of Ngaoundere to mentor, train, supervise and oversee all their official examinations and curricular.
