Cameroon’s internationally acclaimed lawyer, anti-corruption titan, transparency star and good governance crusader of devout standing, Barrister Akere Muna, has hit another global milestone.

Akere Muna’s wealth of experience that stand in a unique class, it is being said, make him the exact square peg in a square hole to pilot the conference that will set the basis for shaping Africa’s future, especially in governance.

Akere Muna, it is widely accepted across the globe, is not new to issues of good governance, transparency and the need to engage citizens in the management of countries and their resources for common and shared benefits. Many have described him as a man of towering legacy, putting at the service of Africa a taste of what he has been giving the world in the last decades.

Akere Muna’s unique trajectory in good governance, transparency…

Barrister Akere Muna is among the few compatriots who have marketed Cameroon positively on the global stage.  His legal in-routes in crusading good governance, peace and transparency have made waves in years past.

This distinguished man of law, who has walked on several golden platforms, is winning the confidence of Africa at the ongoing confab, given his revered wherewithal.

Akere Muna is former President of the Cameroon Bar Association and former boss of the Pan African Lawyers’ Union, PALU. His commitment to the upholding of justice and the rule of law is incontestable.

Akere Muna’s dedication to the fight against corruption has taken him to places, especially given his shining integrity. Akere Muna has been a mover and shaker within the corridors of Transparency International, TI. It has been so, both as the founder of Transparency International-Cameroon and as Vice Chair of the global organisation. At one time, he was Chairperson of the Council of the International Anti-Corruption Conference.

Akere Muna: The good governance icon

Akere Muna's extraordinary work go beyond the jurisdiction of the law promoting good governance in Cameroon, Africa and the world.

He is a former Member of the Eminent Persons Panel for the African Peer Review Mechanism, APRM. At APRM, his firm position on issues relating to the fight for the common good saw him rise to the post of Panel President.

During his time at APRM, Akere Muna was formidable in pushing for reforms in assessing and facilitating the enactment of good governance best practices.  The impact of his crusade, years down the line, have been breathtaking.

Akere muna, the anti-corruption genius

The fearless fight against corruption in Cameroon, Africa and the world at large cannot be chronicled without Akere Muna occupying a prime spot.

His days as Founding Member of Transparency International-Cameroon, are just one of few instances to indicate how far he has gone in fighting against corruption.

Akere Muna is on record as the tireless person who raised awareness on corrupt practices and pushed for accountability in the management of the state in the interest of the citizenry.

His clout in ending corruption on the African continent made Akere Muna a key figure in the African Union's High-Level Panel on Illicit Financial Flows that was chaired by former South African President, Thabo Mbeki.

Addressing illicit financial flows in Africa is among the reasons he has been on Yaounde’s throat on the Glencore scandal; pushing for naming, shaming and punishment of officials who allegedly collected huge bribes to influence the award of contracts.
