Board Members hail MIDENO management for community-based projects.

Board Members of the North West Development Authority, MIDENO, have congratulated management of the institution for excellent execution of development projects in the Region.

This was during the 55th Board of Directors Meeting held at the institution on Thursday July 6. The mid-year accounts session was chaired by the Board Chairman, Governor Adolphe Lele L'afrique, in the presence of the Director General of MIDENO, Anye Matoya Cletus, and other members.

Key issues highlighted during the session were receiving, examining and adoption of the management and administrative accounts of 2022, and the examination of the progress report on investment of this current year.

Speaking during the session, the Board Chairman, Governor Adolphe Lele L'afrique, expressed satisfaction with the development projects being implemented by MIDENO. He also saluted management for the projects currently going on and those envisaged.

"The management of MIDENO has done very well to present very clear documents to Board Members. All the documents submitted were adopted. They have received congratulations from Board Members for job well done in the Region for the last six months," Governor Adolphe Lele said.

Projects carried out by MIDENO

During the session, members also discussed some of the projects carried out by the North West Development Authority, during the last six months. Focus was on the launching of the farming season in Nkambe, where assistance was given to farmers in the division.

Board members also discussed on the rehabilitation work carried out on roads in Awing by MIDENO, with support from the Ministry of Public Works.

It was also revealed during the session that the North West Development Authority assisted in the construction of the alternative access road linking the North West and West Regions.

Projects earmarked

During the 55th Board of Directors Meeting, some of the earmarked projects were made known in the 2023 investment programme of MIDENO. It was revealed that the North West Development Authority will emphasise on agricultural development, by multiplying and giving quality inputs to farmers.

Also in the pipeline is the road infrastructure development project, with focus on the rehabilitation of the 41.7 kilometres of a major alternative access road linking the North West and West Regions.

The socioeconomic empowerment of persons with disabilities in the communities is another project highlighted in the 2023 investment programme of MIDENO.

Governor Adolphe Lele, however, regretted that insecurity is a hindrance to MIDENO, when it comes to the executive of projects in the troubled North West Region.

"There has been a marked improvement in the security context of our Region, especially in the project intervention areas as compared to the previous years. This improvement in the security situation has greatly enhanced the realisation of investment activities. There are, however, still some security hotspots in the Region which continue to mitigate the outreach of interventions of MIDENO...," the Governor said.
