Ndu Baptist Hospital: CBC hailed for construction of over 130 MFCFA-worth ultramodern theatre.

The Divisional Officer, DO of Ndu in Donga Mantung Division of the North West Region, Adamu Shuabo Ibrahim, has saluted the dynamism and development-oriented leadership of the Cameroon Baptist Convention, CBC, manned by Rev Dr Nditemeh Charlemagne as Executive President.

The administrative officer made the statement during a recent ceremony to inaugurate an ultramodern theatre block at the Ndu Baptist Hospital. The ceremony was also attended by the Director of the CBC Health Services, Prof Tih Pius Muffah.

In his address, the DO said the inauguration of the ultramodern theatre block is a historic moment for Ndu Baptist Hospital and the population of Ndu.

According to him, the newly constructed facility is a sign of the dynamism and development-oriented nature of the CBC leaders.

While applauding the leadership mantra of the CBC Executive President, which is Truth, Justice and Equity, the DO noted that: “These are ingredients for peace, which is driver for development like the theatre we are dedicating today”.

For his part, Rev Dr Nditemeh dedicated the newly constructed and equipped facility and the entire hospital to God’s service. He then urged the hospital management and the population of the area to judiciously use the hospital.

“This is your hospital, we can only support you to grow it,” he said, urging the population of Ndu to jealously guard the precious gift of the ultramodern theatre.

CBCHS Director appreciates donors

Taking the floor, the CBCHS Director, Prof Tih Pius, commended all donors and partners who responded to their appeal letter of July 2020, to raise funds for the construction of a theatre at the hospital.

“The dream to build this surgical theatre arose from observed, as well as felt needs of the people of Ndu. In the early 2020s, we observed that the people of Ndu and the entire Donga Mantung Division were in dire need of basic life-saving surgical interventions,” Prof Tih said.

He continued that: “The absence of emergency theatre services were observed to pose life threats to pregnant women and to accident cases. The need was made more urgent because movement from Ndu to Banso Baptist Hospital has not only been long but impossible most of the time. Urgent action was thus very imperative”.

Having achieved the theatre, the Director further enjoined the population and other stakeholders not to lie on their laurels until the expansion of the hospital is complete.

“The availability of the surgical interventions in Ndu Baptist Hospital has created awareness in the whole of Donga Mantung and beyond. We need to expand and improve the services in this hospital for this division,” he added.

It was revealed during the event that the Wimbum Cultural and Development Association, WICUDA, at home and abroad helped in raising 63 million FCFA towards the realisation of the theatre project.

Resounding impact of project

In his welcome address, the Assistant Administrator of Ndu Baptist Hospital, Nfor Gamngong Emmanuel, revealed that in just one year of its functioning, the theatre has offered surgical interventions to 379 major and 500 minor cases and counting. While committing to the CBC Health Services’ mission; quality care to all, the Assistant Administrator explained that the impact of the theatre is resounding.

“We have received patients from all the subdivisions of Donga Mantung, Bui, West and Adamawa regions of Cameroon and others from Nigeria,” Nfor stressed,

He added that: “Many people prefer to leave Yaounde and Douala and come here for surgical intervention and others come because they have family around and they feel at home”.

The ultramodern theatre project worth over 130 million FCFA comprises an anesthesia store, pre-operating assessment room, staff conference room, consumable store, sterile equipment store room, sluice room, two operating rooms, post anesthesia care unit, change room for females and males, 12-bed surgical ward, three private wards, toilets, kitchen and the Assistant Administrator’s office.
