PM sends warning signal to recalcitrant ministers.

The Prime Minister, Head of Government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute, has in what observers say and accurately, is sending warning signals to recalcitrant ministers, called to order, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Celestin Ketcha Courtes.

In a decision signed July 29, PM Dion Ngute annulled certain appointments done within the central services of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.

Minister Ketcha Courtes had on June 2, 2023, appointed certain officials to positions of responsibility on interim basis without the approval of the Prime Minister who oversees government business.

The decree of June 29, many say, comes to make bold and to draw the attention of members of government that, rascality and the lack of respect for the laws of the land and hierarchy have no place in implementing the directives of the Head of State.

For those members of government who might have either knowingly or unknowingly been warming up to go the way of Ketcha Courtes, Dion Ngute’s decree of June 29, analysts are saying, is an indirect message of telling such headstrong and bossy ministers that break time is over.

Others say, the Prime Minister has acted in line with his attributes and function as the Super Minister who relates and coordinates all Presidential instructions in nation building. After all, power they say is taken and not given.

The Prime Minister, pundits say, may be a gentleman but his gentility is not cowardice, docility or a sign of weakness. The Housing and Urban Development Minister’s affront that has resulted in a backlash, many say, should be clear enough to whoever cares to listen that, under the esteemed leadership of President Paul Biya as Head of State, Cameroon for now has only one Prime Minister, Head of Government, Dion Ngute who is empowered to guide and direct other ministers.

According to the Prime Ministerial decision, the appointments done by Minister Ketcha Courtes were wanting in form and violated the laws in place relating to appointments within the public service.

The Guardian Post gathered that, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development had contrary to established laws appointed persons ranking as directors to occupy certain positions without the express approval of the Prime Minister.
