Ngoketunjia: Hon Njingum Musa uses Feast of Ram to preach peace, living together.

The Member of Parliament for Ngoketunjia North Constituency, Hon Njingum Musa, has preached the need for Muslims in the area to live in harmony with members of other communities.

The lawmaker was speaking Wednesday June 28. This was during separate meetings with Muslim faithful in Babessi and Ndop Subdivisions in Ngoketunjia Division of the North West Region.

He met the Muslim faithful during the celebration of the Feast of Tabaski. The celebrations took place at the Babessi prayer ground.

Hon Njingum Musa was accompanied during the visit by the SDO for Ngoketunjia, Mayor of Ndop, Ntoh Daniel, the Divisional Officer of the Subdivision and other personalities.

The prayers were led by Alhadji Ibrahim, Imam of the Babessi Mosque. The Muslim preacher during his sermon prayed for peace to reign in Babessi, Ngoketunjia and the North West Region at large.

"It is a very symbolic feast for the Muslims and the world at large. We have prayed and we have been praying for peace to reign in Ngoketunjia, North West Region, Cameroon and the world at large," Alhadji Ibrahim said.

After the prayer session, the Muslims were invited by Hon Njingum Musa to the Town Hall for a meeting. During the meeting, the lawmaker re-echoed the message of peace, and living together.

"I came to share with Muslim faithful. I want to say that the attendance was very wonderful. My message to them is that of peace and courage. They have listened to the message and they're very happy," Honorable Njingum said.

Hon Njingum Musa also told the population that the feast has a lot of significance. He called on them to trust in God in such times for peace to reign.

According to the MP, visiting his people during such periods is a way of communing and reuniting with them.

"It is important that we always go towards our people, because there are times that they feel abandoned to these boys in the bushes. When we come towards them and talk with them, even those in the bushes are encouraged to abandon what they are doing and come out so they can be reintegrated with the people," Njingum Musa added.

Members of the Muslim community who massively attended the feast expressed satisfaction with the elite. He urged the population of Ngoketunjia to massively send their children to school during the 2023/2024 school year.

Before leaving Babessi, Hon Njingum Musa called on separatist fighters in the area to drop down their weapons and go to the Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration, DDR centre.

"All our brothers who are still in the bushes should lay down their arms and come back so that we should be able to reintegrate them into normal life. I gave them all my phone numbers to call me. Once they lay down their arms, they're free from being tortured," he said.

From Babessi Subdivision, the Member of Parliament left for Ndop town, where he also communed with Muslims in the area.
