After declaring to run for MRC presidency: Michele Ndoki decries harassment, intimidation by party bigwigs.

Prominent Cameroonian lawyer and politician, Barrister Michele Ndoki, has decried harassment and intimidation, she claims to be currently facing in the hands of bigwigs of opposition Cameroon Renaissance Movement, MRC party.

The female politician says she has been receiving threats ever since she publicly announced her intention to challenge incumbent party leader, Prof Maurice Kamto, for the position of president of MRC. Barrister Ndoki made the revelations yesterday during a press conference in Yaounde.

She said the aim of the presser was to draw public attention to the ordeal she has been confronted with, since she made her MRC presidential ambition known in July last year.

During the close to one hour presser, Barrister Ndoki disclosed that some MRC party bigwigs have plotted to prevent her from running for office of president of the party.

She noted that her decision to run for the party’s top job, did not in any way violate the provision of the status and regulation in place.

Ndoki said some party officials are bent on short-circuiting her plans because “they do not want to listen to my vision”.

She mentioned that the MRC party, which prides itself as an exemplary one, has to preach by example if they must challenge the ruling party and other political parties.

“It is regrettable that we are fighting for democracy, yet, doing the opposite. We are telling the ruling party that they should lead by example, yet we are shy about leading by example in our political party,” Ndoki regretted.

The erstwhile Divisional Head of the MRC in Douala and First National Vice President of the Women Wing of the party, also added that she is at the blink of being expelled from the party.

“…because I dared to say I was running for president, I have been harassed in a despicable manner…they are asking that I should be expelled from the MRC because of that," the firebrand lawyer said.

Barrister Ndoki added that despite the scheme to jeopardise her chances of running for office of president of the MRC, she remains devoted to contributing to nation building wherever she may find herself.

“This doesn’t matter because actually, this is not about being president...This is about building the nation. I will continue to do just that,” she stated.

She added that: “…I am calling on my fellow Cameroonians to join me in my move to build the nation”.

Ndoki opens can of worms on MRC

Speaking further at yesterday’s press conference, Barrister Michele Ndoki, regretted the fact that the MRC party, which she had served with unrivalled loyalty and dedication since joining in December 2016, has gone astray from its original mission.

Most of the Founding Fathers of the MRC party, Ndoki claimed, have stepped down from their duties with only two left. She insisted on the need for a rethink.
