After accusation of links with Amba fighters: Mbiame Fon, notables summoned to appear within 48 hours!.

Barely days after the Senior Divisional Officer, SDO for Bui Division, in the North West Region, accused the traditional ruler of Mbiame, HRM Fon Nweh II, for aiding and protecting Amba fighters, he has been summoned, alongside some of his close notables, to, unfailingly, appear before state authorities.

It should be recalled that the SDO for Bui, Menyong Gilbert Sunday, had in a warning letter, dated June 16, a copy of which The Guardian Post stumbled on, indicted the traditional ruler of having links with separatist fighters in his Chiefdom.

The Guardian Post has learned from unimpeachable sources that following the strength of the SDO's accusation, government has ordered that the traditional ruler and some of his key notables be summoned for hearing.

The traditional ruler and his notables, our authoritative sources added, have been given 48 hours to appear before the SDO of Bui. The subject of the summons, our dependable source added, is for the Fon and his notables to respond to questions related to the accusations.

Based on the disclosure of our source, the Fon might be in troubled waters if his responses are not too convincing to the administrative authorities and defence and security officers.

The Fon, our source expressed fears, might be held back by the authorities if the SDO’s accusations against his person are to be backed with proofs.

Revisiting the SDO’s warning letter

Menyong, had in his warning letter, seemingly provoked by the killing of a police officer by Amba fighters around the Fon’s palace on June 15, considered the Fon as supporting those fronting the movement to split the present day Anglophone regions from the rest of the country to create the putative republic of Ambazonia.

“It has come to my knowledge that you give aid and comfort to separatist terrorists which is tantamount to jeopardising the smooth return to normalcy in Mbiame and in Bui Division in general,” partly read the epistle from Menyong.

Buttressing his accusations leveled against the traditional ruler further, the SDO said the Fon’s actions are demonstrated through his “incestuous relationship with enemy forces”.

The SDO said the traditional ruler has “never taken part in any public ceremony organised in Mbiame” including the installation of the new Divısional Officer, DO of Mbven on August 25, 2022, even though the event took place “a few meters from your palace”.

Menyong accused the Fon of not only boycotting this year’s Youth Day and National Day celebrationS but provocatively “mobilising your population to go and work farms in Mbonso”.

Detailing his accusations further of the traditional authority, the SDO frowned that the Fon “entertain an incestuous relationship with enemy forces”.

To corroborate his accusations, the SDO wrote: “On the 14th of June 2023, Amba terrorists moved around your chiefdom and warned all Mbororo people to come out massively to receive you on your return from the USA, else face their wrath. Besides, the population that escorted you upon return from your journey from Mbonso to your palace in Mbiame was headed by terrorists”.

Fon leaking information to Amba, masterminding kidnapping!

The administrative authority said information within his area of command alleges that the traditional ruler leaks vital “information to terrorist concerning the movement of the defense and security forces, and mastermind the kidnapping of peaceful civilians for ransoms in order to share in the booty”.

He also faulted the traditional ruler for failing to show sympathy or concern about the unfortunate incident that led to the killing of the Brigade Commander of Mbiame by a group of terrorists.

“The killing of a police element yesterday the 15th of June 2023 around your palace by a group of terrorist shows that you eat and dine with terrorists to corroborate this, you have shown no compassion to the forces of law and order, and administration after thıs sad incident,” the SDO detailed.

Menyong, in the warning letter, called on HRM Fon Nweh II, to as an auxiliary to the adminıstration, “show proof of loyalty to State's institutions and total unflinching support to the powers that be”.

This, the SDO added, should be done through the “frantic effort towards peace building, fighting criminality and in preserving the unity of our country Cameroon”.

Consolidate the progressive return to normalcy presently witnessed in Mbiame and Bui Division in general, the SDO urged the traditional ruler to “amend your ways and desist from any collaboration with Amba terrorists or face the consequences of your actions”.

Mbiame, it should be said, has been a separatist hotspot since the crisis in the North West and South West Regions morphed into full-fledged armed conflict.

Worth noting is the fact that HRM Fon Nweh II has been one of the most courageous traditional ruler who has remained in his village since the escalation of the crisis.

Many of his peers traditional rulers have fled their villages are living as Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, in other parts of the country.
