Anglophone crisis: Youth MP renews ICT scholarship scheme for IDPs.

The president of the National Youth Council for Balikumbat Subdivision in Ngoketunjia Division of the North West Region who doubles as Youth Member of Parliament, MP, has renewed his Information and Communication Technology, ICT scholarship scheme, for Anglophone crisis Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs.

He announced the renewal of the scheme during a recent ceremony to graduate some 50 beneficiaries of the scheme that has been on for years.

The graduation in Yaounde had in attendance some personalities who lauded the dynamic youth for thinking about those in need.

The trainees have, through the years, been acquiring ICT skills to boost their employability and strengthening their capacity to be self-employed.

Dr Sama actualising Biya’s call

The scheme, which was launched last year, Dr Sama said, is aimed at ensuring that IDP youth gain the best skills to fit in the job market.

He said the scheme is his own way of contributing to Cameroon’s digitisation drive launched by the Head of State, President Paul Biya.

“I intend to train youths in ICT for five years; thereby joining the Head of State in his drive to digitalise Cameroon towards emergence by 2035,” Dr Sama told The Guardian Post.

It is thus a promise kept for the inspiring youth leader who has repeatedly declared his ambition to be a lever for his peers in distress.

During his campaign for the National Youth Council Presidency for the Balikumbat Subdivision, Dr Sama had highlighted the need to empower the youth.

He nonetheless thanked those who have been supporting him to train the beneficiaries. The 2023 project has come to fruition, he said, thanks to the Project Coordinator, Dr Pefela Gildas and his team.

Retracing Dr Sama’s undying support for youth

The recently concluded ICT scholarship program comes to further seal Dr Sama’s status as one of the most vibrant youth development champions in the North West Region.

Before the 2023 project, Dr Sama had carried out several projects through the Sama and God Foundation Worldwide, where he is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer, CEO.

In 2022, he became the first individual to offer ICT scholarship in Balikumbat village for the benefit of dozens of students.

He replicated a similar gesture in Yaounde in the same year, when he organised and donated funds for another ICT scholarship scheme for IDPs.

The much-applauded display of goodwill, boosted the performance candidates during the 2021/2022 session of the General Certificate of Education, GCE Advanced Level.

He was also the main donor of the Ngoketunjia Youth and Students Cultural Association, NGOYSCA’s Peace and Scholarship Conference in 2022. It brought together over two thousand participants.

Dr Sama and his team also donated over one thousand exercise books to IDPs living in Galim in the West Region. Before the multiple 2022 gestures, Dr Sama had also carried projects out of Balikumbat Subdivision in 2019.

He became the pioneer sponsor of the Bali Chamba Peace and Cultural Association’s Peace and Unity Tournament in Yaounde.

Beneficiaries hail Dr Sama’s heart of gold

While hailing Dr Sama for staying consistent to further help IDPs, those who have already benefitted from the scheme have saluted his demonstration of love and rare patriotism. Many have described him as a youth with a heart of gold.

Sama Relindis, one of the trainees, thanked her benefactor for helping her to acquire skills that will ease her integration in the job market.

“This training will permit me to be able to work as a secretary. It will help me easily pick up a job or become self-employed,” she said.

Another trainee, Langmi Brenda, a graduate from the University of Yaounde I, said the program was a life-changing opportunity.

Langmi thanked Dr Sama for putting resources to ensure that she be initiated into the world of ICT.

“Sincerely, before the recent training, I could easily be ranked as one of those computer illiterates. I am glad that today, I can do a lot of things using the computer,” Langmi told The Guardian Post.

Senator Dingha Ignatius Bayin, former Senator for the North West Region, who attended the ceremony, congratulated Dr Sama MP for being a visionary youth leader.

Rich, motivating academic background

Dr Sama has a rich academic background. He studied in Cameroon and in Nigeria. He holds a BSc in Human Resource Management earned from the Management and Business Academy Institute in Douala.

He also graduated in Human Kinetic and Health Education from the Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Nigeria. The 31-year-old is also a Health Adviser to the Nigeria Red Cross Society in Onitsha, Anambra State.

He equally holds a Diploma in Chaplaincy Ministry from EMET Global Theological Seminary and College Georgia in the United State of America.

Dr Sama also has as a certificate in Modern Day Diplomacy by the Canada-based Conseil De Rayonnement International. These qualifications, according to him, are the biggest inspirations for his multiple philanthropic activities.
