Visiting Ivorian delegation hails peace efforts of Bilingualism Commission.

A delegation from the Cote d’Ivoire International War College, has commended the efforts of the National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism, in contributing to the existence of peace and social cohesion in the country.

The delegation gave the commission the deserving accolades during an audience Thursday. The delegation of 24 officers from ten African nations was received in audience by the President of the Bilingualism Commission, Peter Mafany Musonge.

The slightly over an hour audience which was partly opened to the newsmen took place in the presence of the Secretary General of the Bilingualism Commission, Dr Chi Asafor Cornelius, as well as the Vice President of the said institution, Oumarou Djika.

Speaking as he welcomed the Ivorian delegation, the President of the Commission, His Excellency Peter Mafany Musonge, thanked the visitors for taking interest in the works of the Commission. 

The former Prime Minister said it was the first time the Commission was “receiving a delegation of men and women who have decided to dedicate their lives to the protection of the integrity of their respective countries”.

While saluting the cordial relations between Cameroon and Cote d’Ivoire, the Commission boss expressed joy over the return of peace to the West African nation.

Taking the cue, Colonel Brou Raoul who spoke on behalf of the Ivorian delegation, saluted the efforts of the Bilingualism Commission in consolidating peace in Cameroon.

The senior Ivorian military officer said his delegation was in Cameroon to tap from the country’s experience in maintaining peace.

“The Cote d’Ivoire war College has Cameroon to inspire themselves from Cameroon’s experience on its approach against threats as well as consolidating peace both internally and externally,” he told reporters outside the audience hall.

He explained that, “we came to the Commission to be acquainted with their mission which is to contribute to social cohesion at the national level, as well as the maintenance and preservation of national unity”. 

“There is also the cultural aspect; multiple languages, which is something that we do not have in Cote d’Ivoire. Such diversity in linguistics can help us to reflect on how it can be implemented in our country,” he added.

Colonel Brou continued that: “What we can retain from the exchanges is that, the Commission is headed by top ranking personalities whose level of comprehension in the face of challenges; security, development…is top notch”.

“Also, their proposals have enlightened us on how to work in this direction with a global approach because we do not only have security challenges…This commission enlightened us on their approach, on the type of approach they are taking to maintain peace, social cohesion…,” he concluded.
