Landmark Metropolitan University opens new ultramodern Campus B.

The President of Landmark Metropolitan University, Prof Legah Simon, has reiterated that the vision of his institution is to empower young Cameroonians in particular and Africans in general with the skills needed to compete globally.

He was speaking during the official inauguration, dedication and thanksgiving ceremony to officially open the ultramodern structure that will host Campus B of the institution in Buea.

“It is our vision to empower young Cameroonians and Africans. The reason our motto is “The Pride of Africa” is because we want to ensure that every African is trained to be job-oriented and be able to compete globally with their friends from other parts of the world,” Prof Legah said.

Africa, he said, has all the potential to lead the world. He however quickly added that the continent needs talents to be directed in the right direction. Landmark Metropolitan University, he insisted, was the right place to lead the move to lead Africa to assume its place as a global leader.

“Now is the time for Africa to take the lead after Europe and America. Now is our time to lead. We must have something to offer, rather than expecting aid and other support,” he noted.

In his keynote address, the Paramount ruler of the Bafaw and traditional ruler of Kumba, Nfon Senator Ekoko IV Mukete, appreciated Landmark University for the opportunities they are giving young Cameroonians with state-of-the-art infrastructure and equipment.

In this light, he urged the students and other young people present to make the most of the opportunity provided by the institution.

“Young people are innovative and creative because God has built them to be better, stronger and more intelligent. They must use this natural talent for the right reasons. They should think laterally, create, innovate and not be bugged into the old system. God has given us the ability to go beyond our imaginations,” Prof Legah added.

The paramount ruler of the Bafaw also enjoined the students to think big like Prof Legah Simon and be ready to take advantage of all opportunities.

“If the students think big like Prof Legah Simon, they can and will achieve more because they have the best opportunities to achieve everything. Opportunities will always come but are you prepared and ready to take advantage and monetise it?”, he questioned.

The inaugurated ultramodern structure consists of four floors, twelve classrooms, five offices, and a multipurpose hall, fully deployed with green energy to protect the environment and reduce the institution’s carbon footprint.

The institution also envisages the construction of hostels for students and apartments for the staff of the institution.

All these infrastructural developments, Prof Legah insisted, is their way of giving back to society and promoting nation-building.

“Our vision of training young men and women is to give back to society by ensuring our young people have the best facilities and environment to study to enable them to contribute to nation-building,” Nfon Senator Ekoko Mukete said.

Landmark Metropolitan University offers programmes from Higher National Diploma, Bachelor and Masters in schools like the School of Business and Social Sciences, School of Engineering and Technology, School of Agriculture and Food Technology, and School of Medical and Biomedical Sciences.
