At National Day celebration in Kumba: Nfon Mukete appeals for more investment as normalcy gains steam.

The King of Kumba and paramount ruler of the Bafaw, Senator Nfon Mukete IV Ekoko, has appealed for more investments as the peace and security situation of the metropolis continues to improve.

Nfon Mukete made the appeal Saturday May 20. This was shortly after taking part in celebrations marking the 51st edition of the National Day. He expressed delight in the success of the event, stressing that the ambiance exhibited was show of how peaceful Kumba has become.

With such an atmosphere, the paramount ruler appealed to the people of goodwill and the powers that be to invest in the metropolis.

Nfon Mukete told The Guardian Post that “…it was wonderful and we hope people from outside Kumba will have a clear and correct impression about the city and come and invest here”.

The “wrong perception about Kumba has to change. People are at peace moving around. Kumba wants to benefit from that peace and continue its day-to-day business”, the Senator said.

May 20 celebration in Kumba, this year, was more colourful compared to previous years since the crisis in the North West and South West Regions erupted.

On this score, the Nfon of Kumba saluted the Senior Divisional Officer, SDO for Meme, Chamberlain Ntou’ou Ndong, for mobilising stakeholders to make the event a huge success.

Ntou’ou Ndong presided over activities at the Kumba Grandstand. The military opened the parade, followed by the national gendarmerie, police, firefighters, ex-servicemen, police, penitentiary service, and forestry.

This was followed by schools, political parties and other socio-cultural associations like the Frankist Movement.

Nfon Mukete IV Ekoko, who was taking part in the celebration in Kumba for the first time as a Senator, also saluted CPDM supporters and Bafaw women for massively taking part in the event.

The Nfon took part in the event alongside members of the Kumba Traditional Council and the Quarter Heads of the 45 quarters of Kumba. Many also seized the opportunity to commune with the Nfon.

The day was crowned with a banquet at the Divisional Office and another at the 21st Support Battalion of the military in Kumba.
