MTN Elite Two: Unisport Bafang president summoned for castigating Eto’o, FECAFOOT.

“I have the honour to ask you to appear on Tuesday May 23, 2023 at 4pm before the Investigation Chamber of FECAFOOT Ethics Commission, located at FECAFOOT headquarters in Tsinga, to be heard about your statements of Wednesday April 26, 2023 at the end of the match between your team and Dynamo FC of Douala,” reads part of the summons dated May 11, 2023.

It concluded “You are free to be assisted on this occasion by your counsel and to come with any document that you deem useful. In addition, this correspondence serves as notification of the opening of an investigation against you. In case where you fail to show up, the Chamber will draw all the legal procedures,”.

Why President Ngameni is being summoned

The summon signed by the Investigation Chamber, Logmo II Achille is in relation to comments made by the Unisport boss, judged incendiary after their match day 24 fixture against Dynamo of Douala.

Unisport lost the match by 0-3 and President Ngameni in a very bitter tone, described refereeing in the fixture shameful and horrible.

Ngameni had castigated the Samuel Eto’o led-FECAFOOT, accusing it of manoeuvres to favour some clubs against others.

Speaking to reporters on the outcome of the match between Unisport and Dynamo, Ngame said: “Talking about what didn’t go well, you see with me that we are just animators of the championship and today we observed it again. Know it today that I’m not afraid of anything and I’m speaking with an opened heart. No one will do anything to me. What we are living in this championship has to stop. No one came here to accompany another,”. 

He went further to say “We are investing a lot of money but people cannot choose which clubs in the championship will gain promotion. I think that in the days ahead, I will grant a press conference to reveal a lot of things. If that’s how things are going to continue, all of us will qualify for first division by the same means. I’m beginning to think that my seniors who created disorder in the past were right. You can’t justify this type of refereeing”. 

According to the Unisport President, there were already rumours circulating of the two clubs that were too qualify for Elite One. 

“Is this the championship of President Eto’o, I’m ashamed and I pity Cameroon,” Ngameni questioned, before concluding that: “truly Cameroon is going straight into mud,”. 

The outing of the football administrator didn’t go down well with FECAFOOT management who now want to officially get his own side of the story.

It should be noted that before that match, rumours circulated that referees who were assigned to the game had been instructed to ensure that Dynamo FC gets the 3 points at all course, since they were the second club to accompany Victoria United to Elite One next season.

Several matches in the just ended second tier for the 2022/2023 season were marred by crowd trouble with fingers pointing at FECAFOOT for favouring some clubs.
