Ndu: Mbarse FC triumphs in Ta Shey Football Tournament for Peace.

Mbarse Football Club has emerged winners of the maiden edition of the Ta Shey Frank Football Tournament for Peace in Ndu, Donga Mantung Division of the North West Region.

The football competition that lasted for over three months was crowned with a grand finale on Sunday April 9 at the CBC School Field in Ndu.

The crowd pulling event witnessed by over 2,000 persons saw Mbarse FC outplaying Bafana Bafana FC to lift the trophy.

The high tactical and entertaining final ended on a 1-1 score at regular and extra time before Mbarse got the victory through penalty shootout beating their opponent by 4-3. 

A total of 16 clubs competed in the peace tournament in the U13 and senior categories. In the U13 category, Young Legends of CBTS Ndu defeated Njipflu FC to home with the trophy.

Winners of the tournament returned home with cash prizes while outstanding individual players were also rewarded.

The donor and initiator of the Ta Shey Fran Football Tournament for Peace, Ntumfon Franklin Ndzi Nformi who doubles as Sub Divisional Treasurer for Ako and Councilor of the Nkambe Council congratulated all the teams that participated in the tournament for their show of discipline and maturity.

He showered praised on the organising committee for the astute job throughout the tournament and the huge mobilisation during the final.

Addressing the population of Ndu, he said football tournament for peace as the name implies is intended to build a community of love, tolerance and peace and not violence.

Ntumfon Franklin Ndzi called on all and sundry to love their neighbours, adding that the tournament is apolitical and focuses on building a community that cherishes peace and fair play.

He also stated that there are two other tournaments which he has offered in Mbuwarr zone with six villages competing and another in Bih zone.

 

SDO, DO hail move to promote peace 

The Senior Divisional Officer for Donga Mantung, Simon Nkwenti Doh and the Divisional Officer for Ndu, Adamu Shuaibu Ibrahim have all saluted the initiative of Ta Shey Frank to continue to preach peace through football.

Addressing the Cup donor, Simon Nkwenti said “you make us proud most of the time with your sensitive touches on the populations. By taking the tournament to Ndu, you were in a sense sending out a loud message not only to the populations of this entry and exit command units which has been held captive by aggressive neighbours but you are also giving a hot message to Donga Mantung,”.

Adamu Shuaibu on his part did not only laud Ta Shey Frank’s wonderful initiative to build peace but challenged the elite of Ndu Subdivision to emulate his example.

He urged the population of the administrative unit he commands to be peace builders and shun any action that is likely to provoke violence and killings.

The football tourney ended in a festive mode with the donor promising an even more exciting second edition.
