Prudential, CAF announce official AFCON insurance sponsorship

Prudential Africa, a leading insurance company in Asia and Africa, and the Confederation of African Football, CAF, have announced a sponsorship agreement, rendering Prudential Africa, the official insurance sponsor of the 33rd African Cup of Nations, AFCON 2021, ongoing in Cameroon.


The announcement was made public Tuesday in a press conference organised by both parties in Douala.
Being the official insurance sponsor of the football jamboree in Cameroon, the officials of Prudential Africa said the aim is to help people get the most out of life, noting that football is not just one of the uniting factors in Cameroon, but also the sports which helps in promoting healthy lifestyle.


In a welcome statement, the CEO of Prudential Cameroon, Nkwenti Handsome Brain, said they are pleased to be AFCON official insurance sponsor and thanked their partners for the growth witnessed in Cameroon, within two years of existence in the country.


“I’m a proud Cameroonian and it is a great honour to be the official insurance sponsor of AFCON. I would like to thank our partners for the growth witnessed in Cameroon since we came two years ago,” he said. Nkwenti added that Prudential is committed to support passion and promote health.


“…that is the reason for being the AFCON sponsor, bringing that unique energy closer to its people, but in all these, let the game of football be the official winner,” he added.

Commenting on the partnership, the chief representative officer of Prudential Northern Africa Region, Eric Mboma, said the sponsorship underscored Prudential’s commitment to the African continent and their zeal to promote talent.


“As we grow our business in Africa, we also want to support the passion and talent of its people. Africa shares a common love for football and we are honoured to be part of the tournament that unites the continent and brings together the brightest talents of African football,” he said.


Mboma said in Cameroon, football is the leading political party and the country’s entry window, the uniting vehicle of the nation just like elsewhere where football conveys love and passion.
The CAF officials, in their remarks, noted that they were excited and pleased to have one of the best insurance companies onboard as sponsoring partner of AFCON.

Prudential’s potential lauded

Jahvier Olea, CAF’s marketing and partnership director, noted that together with CAF’s president, Dr Patrice Motsepe, they had seen the potentials of Prudential and are happy they are part of the football new era.


“CAF is happy to go with the leading company in Africa. Being able to host the tournament has not been easy, but many people have put in a lot of efforts. African football is strong, beautiful and the best teams are playing on African soil. Helping Prudential get more exposure through football is a pleasure to us…together let’s build African football,” Olea said.


AFCON 2021, which is underway in Cameroon, will be played till February 6.However, officials of Prudential Africa, during the press conference, stated their willingness to continue serving as sponsors in subsequent AFCON editions.
