Yaounde Int’l Business School takes training of medical professionals to new level.

The Yaounde International Business School, YIBS, has signed a strategic partnership deal with the Yaounde University Teaching Hospital, better known by its French abbreviation as CHUY. The deal, signed Tuesday April 23, is aimed at boosting the training received by students of YIBS’ School of Medical and Biomedical Sciences.

The Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, was signed by the President of the Board of Trustees and Founder of YIBS, Acho Godfred Taku, and the Director General of CHUY, Prof Ntone Eyime Felicien, on behalf of their respective institutions.

The event took place at the conference centre of CHUY. It was attended by staff of CHUY, as well as YIBS students and staff.

Speaking during the event, the CHUY Director General, pledged the readiness of his institution to work with YIBS in sharpening the skills of the trainees.

Welcoming the students to the medical field, Prof Ntone reminded them of the need to respect the ethics of the profession and be disciplined.

By so doing, he said, they will leave the CHUY with added value in terms of professional skills and attitudes when their training comes to an end.

Prof Ntone also told guests that the focus of their training at CHUY is not to produce state employees or state registered personnel nor to give out certificates.

The goal, he insisted, is to train the YIBS students to be caregivers and doctors, whose abilities and skills prove their worth.

Why sign convention with YIBS?

The DG of CHUY told reporters that as a university teaching hospital, one of their missions is to meet the needs of some schools by sharpening the training of their students.

He further detailed that YIBS’ appeal for a partnership was duly scrutinised and approved by his team.

“Before we receive students here, we have to know exactly what the curriculum of the school is. I will sometimes send my collaborators to meet those schools, evaluate them, then we choose those who could send their students here,” Prof Ntone told The Guardian Post

He also precised that: “The second thing is responsibility. You cannot send students who are going to meet in a medical facility with patients without any kind of responsibility, which is why we signed this convention”.

By signing the convention, he reaffirmed that his team now has the obligation to follow-up the YIBS students to ensure that they are acquiring the right knowledge and skills.

Prof Ntone also saluted the move by YIBS administration to organise a grandiose ceremony in accordance with the Anglo-Saxon style of doing things.

Enter YIBS Vice Chancellor

In his address, YIBS Vice Chancellor, Prof Anyambod Emmanuel Anya, indicated that the signing of the MoU marks a new decisive page in the history of the YIBS.

He said the YIBS is a professional school accredited by government in 2019 and mentored by the University of Bamenda.

Prof Anyambod said it was created in response to the aspirations of the Head of State, President Paul Biya, for the training of young Cameroonians to be creative, innovative and nurtured entrepreneurs towards achieving emergence by 2035.

The VC stated that: “In this light, the YIBS lays emphasis on the quality of teaching and leases with credible partners of high repute, under the guidance of a very highly talented Board of Trustees; made up of university professors, bankers, business persons, medical doctors, clergies and entrepreneurs”.

Such a mix in the school’s board, he indicated is, “in order to ascertain the future of the young people of this nation, capable of transforming the rich natural resources of the nation into the richness of its people”.

He described the founder as “a positive thinker”, “a professional”, “an entrepreneur and committed Cameroonian”, striving to achieve big dreams for Cameroon.

He assured the CHUY Director General that YIBS Board of Trustees, under the command of its president, will do all it takes to provide high-level, quality and professional training to the students, especially those of YIBS School of Medical and Biomedical Sciences.

Prof Anyambod said this is in a bid to improve and to provide high quality health services in the country.
