Edwin Eselem chronicles life’s challenges, experiences in must-read memoir

The first creative non-fiction piece by senior brand and communications professional, Edwin Eselem is now on sale across the country and beyond. The work titled From Wotutu to the World, a story of hope and resilience, chronicles the communications expert’s life, tracing his challenges, experiences, lifestyle and lessons learnt in the process.

Announcing the ten-chapter masterpiece in an October 1 release, Eselem described the book as “… a humble attempt to X-ray his own life and offer hope and guidance while experimenting his passion as a budding writer.”

It focuses on among others, “how life and the experiences we have been through could serve as a silver bullet for other challenges as we move forward.”

“From Wotutu to the World, a story of hope and resilience connects the dots of Eselem’s life to landmark venues, geographical locations and anecdotal evidence. It tells a compelling story of how these milestones shaped his thoughts, words, actions, characters and deeds,” read a portion of the author’s release.

“The book,” it went on, “provides a tell-it-all, enlightening, instructive, engrossing and passionate approach to Eselem’s journey. It also captures in a scintillating andhonest fashion, his personality, fears and aspirations.”

Being a journey constituted of Eselem’s personal experiences, the memoir’s setting opens in Limbe, South West region where he was raised. It traces his days and fondest memories in Wotutu through college in Sasse, Limbe, as well as his days at the University of Buea’s Department of Journalism and Mass Communication.

The work the release narrated further, “… opens up to his entrance into the ‘real’ world in Douala and to the world. In each of these narratives, the ten-chapter memoir navigates thematic issues and striking events; the death of his father and close friends, his personality, struggles with personal hygiene, his inner demons, politics, family and toxic relationships.”

With several years of service in the corporate world, Edwin Eselem’s professional experience spans across corporate and marketing communications, brand management, events, sponsorships, advertising and public relations. He holds a Master of Science in Corporate Communication and a Bachelor of Sciecne (with honours) in Journalism and Mass Communication, graduating with Magna and Summa cum laudes on both occasions.

Eselem is also held in high standards by many, owing to his contributions to community. Among them is the Edwin Eselem Football tournament christened after him. The competition with inaugural edition held in August helped his Wotutu community and by extension, Limbe regain its boisterity. The communications expert’s initiative further served as an avenue for positive interaction, enhancing social cohesion among the inhabitants of the community.
